City library in the Austrian Palace

Kuhnle&Knödler / Photography Deluxe

A modern media center that entices everyone to read and offers rooms where all generations enjoy spending time – that is the Radolfzell town library. In the heart of the city stands the imposing, historic building with a view of the lake, which was completely renovated in 2015 and was originally intended to serve as a city palace for the Austrian Archduke Leopold V in the 17th century. Today it houses a wide range of books and media in its cozy rooms.

Novels, non-fiction books, comics, films, music, games, audio books, magazines, but also devices and accessories, such as e-book readers or tablets, are waiting to be used or borrowed on site. The entire collection can be viewed and searched in the online catalog OPAC.
In addition, online reference works are available to registered readers. Onleihe Hegau-Bodensee makes it possible to borrow digital media for use on a private computer or mobile device. Computers, Internet access, printers and photocopiers are also available in the building.

The technically well-equipped vaulted cellar makes the library an attractive venue for lectures, readings, games evenings and information events for children and adults.

The Radolfzell City Library is committed to promoting reading through numerous collaborations with schools and daycare centers and supports media literacy in all age groups with its information and advice services.
