Irene Langemann, born in Issilkul (Siberia) in 1959, grew up bilingually in a German family. She went to Moscow at the age of 17, studied acting and German language and literature and worked as an author, actress and presenter. She emigrated to Germany in 1990. Since then she has lived in Koln and works as an author and director for film and television. Her documentary films have won numerous international awards.
