Picture book cinema with Thressia Krüger: It’ll be okay, Peenie

Thressia Krüger is a mother, children’s book author and educator.
She was born on the Caribbean island of Jamaica in 1983 and spent her childhood and youth in a small village in the countryside.
She acquired her knowledge of Jamaican flora and fauna by exploring nature and learning from her mother and grandmother.

She emigrated to Germany in 2003.
She lives on Lake Constance with her family.
Her inspiration for writing “Das wird schon, Peenie!” came from childhood memories and her love of animals and nature.

DAS WIRD SCHON, PEENIE! is a picture book for children aged 3 and over, a wonderful story about the little firefly Peenie about friendship, courage and self-confidence.

Peenie the firefly has a wonderful, carefree life.
He lives in a beautiful place in the Caribbean and has lots of good friends.
Everything is actually fine until one evening he notices something strange: his bottom can neither light up nor blink.
Peenie asks himself: am I even a real firefly?
Fortunately, he has a loving mom and great friends who believe in him and encourage him.
Will he one day manage to make his bottom light up?

“You know, my Peenie, every firefly is different.
There are fireflies that learn to fly first and others that
light up first, because everyone is special.”

Shehan Gunasekara has illustrated the picture book with loving pictures.
