Author reading Martin Schäuble: The story of the Israelis and Palestinians: The Middle East conflict from the perspective of those who experience it
18. November | 19:00 bis 21:00 Uhr
Knowledgeable and researched on location: If you want to understand the Middle East conflict, you need to know the history of the Israelis and Palestinians – and listen to the people who lived it.
Martin Schäuble has spoken to Israelis and Palestinians over many years.
They tell of a life in a state of emergency, of long, bitter battles.
What they tell of their everyday lives makes it abundantly clear that there is no one valid truth and that the ongoing conflict leaves no room to hear the voices of the other side.
– This “topical and gripping non-fiction and history book” (FOCUS) sheds light on the region and the conflict at close quarters – from the founding of the state to the Hamas attack on Israel.
Martin Schäuble, born in 1978, studied politics in Berlin, Israel and Palestine and wrote his doctoral thesis on two jihadists.
He has been traveling to the Middle East as a journalist for 20 years.
His research resulted in the book “Black Box Jihad” in 2011.
Hanser also published “Zwischen den Grenzen”, “Zu Fuß und per Anhalter durch Israel und Palästina” (2013) and his young adult novel “Endland” (2017).
An updated and expanded new edition of “Die Geschichte der Israelis und Palästinenser – Der Nahost-Konflikt aus Sicht derer, die ihn erleben” followed in 2024.
