The summer reading club HEISS AUF LESEN© 2026 is an initiative planned by the Department of Public Libraries at the Freiburg Regional Council and carried out by libraries throughout the state. In Radolfzell, the Friends of the City Library Association (Freundeskreis Stadtbibliothek e.V.) and the City Library are supporting the initiative.
It is intended to entice children and young people to read during the vacations and create an incentive to visit the library. The aim of the Friends of the City Library campaign is to encourage children to read and to make reading fun. Even children who don’t read much are in the right place here.
Only club members can access the 100 brand new books with the HAL logo donated to the library by the Friends of the City Library.

The rules of the game
Of course, every exclusive club also needs its rules to function properly. They are summarized here once again:
- As a club member, you can borrow the exclusive “Heiss auf Lesen” books (on the 2nd floor children’s section). Max. You can choose 3 books there and take them with you.
- You can of course continue to borrow and read the other books from the library.
- After you have read the books, you can enter them in your logbook, including your own or those from the public library.
- But beware: only the books you read during the campaign count
- Every Wednesday from 3 – 5 pm you can talk to us about the book you have read and collect stamps, so make sure you bring your logbook with you.

It’s worth reading a lot, because…
For every 3rd book you read or every 3rd stamp you can get a voucher for a scoop of ice cream.
And here’s a little EXTRA:
If you get your friends and classmates to join the promotion, you’ll get an extra ice cream coupon.

How can I become a club member?
– You were in 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th grade before the summer vacations
– You have a valid library card from the city library?
Don’t have one yet?
Get a free ID card. All we need is a completed registration form and the signature of your parents.
– You register for HEISS AUF LESEN using this form.
Fill it out and bring it with you during opening hours, drop it in our mailbox or send it by e-mail.
How do I get a prize?
- You can obtain your reading logbook from the library or download additional logbook pages online. You can find all downloads at the top left of the page.
- When you have read a book, you make a logbook entry.
- Come with your logbook to the (above mentioned) stamping dates and tell us about the book you have read.
- If you can’t come to the stamping dates, you can also send the logbook page by e-mail, drop it in the letterbox or hand it in at the foyer during opening hours (but please note that ice cream vouchers are only available in person on site).
- We also accept self-drawn pictures as logbook pages. We are happy to display the exhibits in the city library (don’t forget to write your name on the picture).
There is a closing party at the end.
Please note: You must register separately for the closing party! There are only limited places!
You can expect:
- A READING PERFORMANCE titled “Rocky and the Pigs—A Rock ’n’ Roll Fairy Tale” with Joachim Günther
- An award ceremony with a raffle
- Delicious drinks and snacks
