Plátero y yo and the fall – poetry and music
24. October | 19:30 bis 22:00 Uhr
A special literary-musical project. A two-part lecture/reading with speaker and guitar music on the Nobel Prize-winning prose poem (1956) by Juan Ramon Jimenez “Platero y yo”, the first with specially composed guitar pieces by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco to musically accompany a selection of the texts, and the second with various autumn poems combined with a cycle of “12 Autumn Waltzes and Autumn Impressions from Lake Constance” by Günter Mantei.
For anyone interested in literature and music, it should certainly be a varied and new discovery of the story about the little donkey Platero, with whom Jimenez talks fictitiously as if to a friend and discusses all sorts of things, as well as hearing the poems, some of which are already familiar but also new, in the context of the musical sound images of the autumnal guitar pieces.
The performers are Dietmar Fulde from Lörrach as narrator and Günter Mantei from Singen-Bohlingen with the guitar.
